The development of slave huts were built with stone and wood. Wattle, daub and stone houses both houses had thatched roofs. The houses were known as slave huts near the sugar plantation and in direct view of the master’s mansion. You can view today in the parish of St. Lucy on the road to River Bay and Tyrol Cot Heritage Village, St Michael.
